Description

This barn, located about 10 metres south of Penstock Hall, dates from around 1600. It features a timber frame and is weatherboarded, with red brick on the return and rear elevations facing the road. The barn has a plain tiled roof and a ragstone plinth, along with some English bond brickwork. It has a hipped roof and a hipped midstrey. Inside, the barn consists of three bays with aisles and a terminal outshot to the south, and originally to the north. The structure includes passing shores to the aisle posts, which have eccentric wavy bracing, and a clasped purlin roof.
