Description

This barn, located approximately 30 metres southeast of Stours Farmhouse, dates back to around 1600. It is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The structure consists of five bays arranged roughly east-west, featuring a midstrey on the south side. The barn has jowled posts with later bolted knees and curved bracing set into heavy studding. The wallplates show face-halved and bladed scarfs. Inside, the roof is constructed with clasped purlins and includes curved wind bracing. Notably, the original base wall, built in English bond, is almost entirely intact.
