Description

High House is an 18th-century house located on the east side of The Street in Ashen. It is timber framed and plastered, with a thatched roof. The building is aligned north-south and features an axial chimney stack on the west side. It has two storeys. The ground floor includes a plain boarded door, one 19th-century casement window, and one 20th-century metal casement window. On the first floor, there are two late 18th-century or early 19th-century three-light windows with pintle hinges for the central casement, which were replaced in the 20th century. The north gable displays a band of dogtooth ornamental plaster.
