Description
This barn, located 25 metres west of Silkstead House, dates from the late 18th century. It features a timber frame that is clad in weatherboarding and has a slate roof, supported by 25 staddle stones and flint and rubble walling at both ends. The barn is designed with five bays and has a half-hipped roof. Each of its two long sides has vertical planked double doors in the central bay. Inside, the roof structure includes queen struts that are angled outwards against the purlins, along with jowled upright posts and diagonal tension braces connecting the wallposts to the tie beams.
