Description
New Barn Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century, with early 18th century and 19th century alterations. It is constructed of brick and features an old plain tile roof with medieval ridge tiles. Originally, it was a T-shaped house from the late 17th or early 18th century, consisting of three bays with a rear wing. Some 17th century brickwork can still be seen in the gable end of the wing, which was enlarged in the 19th century when additions were made to each side, transforming the house into a double pile. A single storey wing was added to the left at the front.
The front of the house is two storeys high with three bays and has a high plinth made of flint and brick, which is interrupted by windows. There is a central 19th century porch with pilasters at the corners, a full entablature, and an archway that leads to a top-glazed door. On either side of the porch are large 19th century three-light segmental head casements. On the first floor, there are two three-light casements and a single casement located above the door. The house features coved timber eaves and external end stacks. To the left, there is a two-bay single storey range with three-light segmental head casements, and the roof is half-hipped.
