7/24 Stable Block at Cranbury House GV II

Stable block. 1864 on tablet, restored 1963. Rubbed brick, stone sills and mounting blocks, slate roof behind parapet. Half-H-shape with wide central archway with 4 bays each side and wide single bay projecting wing at each end, 2 storey. Taller slightly projecting central bay with tall rusticated central arch and quoins, string course above with round-headed window and modillions to wide moulded brick cornice. Bays each side have plinth, indented aprons below round-headed windows with stone sills and rusticated architraves. String course carries across from arch and panelled parapet with stone coping. Wings have in centre full height panel with rusticated brick architrave and door with window at top and inscribed panel between. On wings similar to centre bay except for tall round-headed panel with rusticated architrave and inside window with round-headed window above and apron between, both with stone sills. Attached to N end and forming side of courtyard single storey brick shed with similar dressings.
