Description
This is a 17th-century barn located 10 meters southeast of Upper Silkstead Farmhouse. It features a timber frame that is weatherboarded and sits on a brick plinth, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn has seven bays and is aisled all around, with central pent-roofed porches on both sides. Inside, the barn has a composite roof supported by two central trusses with queen posts, along with other trusses that have queen strut roofs. The posts are set on base plates and are tied to the tops of the walls, with curved braces connecting to the aisle plates, tie beams, and wind braces.
