Description
This is a 17th-century barn located 20 meters northwest of Berrydown Farmhouse. The barn features a timber frame that is weatherboarded and sits on a brick plinth, with concrete blocks incorporated into one end wall. The roof is made of asbestos sheets and is half-hipped. The barn has eight bays and includes double slatted timber doors in the second and third bays from each end on the farm side, while the third bays in on the opposite side have recessed midstray doors. Inside, the barn has a tall queen post roof with aisles. The posts are set on brick piers and include some baseplate ties, with aisle ties connected to the top of the walls. The cambered tie beam has struts leading to the lower purlin, and there are braces from the posts to the ties and aisle plates, along with windbraces to the upper purlins. The barn has been altered in the 20th century.
