Description

This barn, located 15 meters north of Berry Court Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century. It features a timber-frame structure that is weatherboarded and topped with a corrugated iron roof, set on a plinth made of brick and flint. The barn has ten bays and is open in the third bay from the right, with 19th-century cattle sheds projecting forward from the fourth and fifth bays. There are also 19th-century buildings at the left end. On the far side of the barn, there are two gabled porches located in the third bay from the left and the fourth bay from the right, with open right bays that lack an aisle. Inside, the barn has a queen-post roof with cambered ties, and the posts rest on baseplates, featuring large curved braces connecting the back of the posts to the junction of the baseplates, as well as straight braces extending from the posts to the aisleplates and tiebeams. There are small paired windbraces present as well.
