Description

Farley Mount Obelisk is a stone, four-sided pyramid approximately 10 meters high, built in 1795 for Sir Paulet St John. It is located at the center of an earthwork on Farley Down. The obelisk was erected by Sir Paulet St John of Farley Chamberlayne in memory of a favorite hunter that leapt into a chalk pit 8 meters deep without injury to either the horse or rider.
