Description
The barn and stabling at Silkstead Farm, located 25 metres south of Silkstead House, is a structure that dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The barn, which was originally used for stabling with a hayloft above, features three sides made of brick, while the western side is weatherboarded on a brick plinth. It has a hipped slate roof and consists of three bays. The ground floor includes two stable-type doors and a blocked western door above, which likely led to the original hayloft, although the floor has since been removed. The barn has a queen strut roof. Attached to the south is a single-storey timber-framed stable from the 19th century, which is clad in weatherboarding and has a slate roof. This building is included for its group value.
