Description

Burntwood Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was once part of a larger house, dating from the early 18th century. It was refronted in 1908 when a service wing was added to the left, which has since been demolished. The building is constructed of rendered brick with a 20th-century moulded brick front and has a tiled roof. It is a double pile, two-storey structure with an attic and features five bays. The front, which is irregular due to the 1908 alterations, has giant brick pilasters at each end that support a cornice with stone coping and raised gable walls also with stone coping.

There is a central projecting moulded brick porch in front of an 18th-century six-panel door. On either side of the door are two 12-pane flush frame sashes, and above the door and outer sashes, there are three more windows, with a small 12-pane sash to the left of centre. Above the coping in the centre is an early 20th-century five-light hip-roofed dormer. The roof features a flat top between the front and rear pitches, with a gable stack at the right end and a stack set in from the left end.

At the rear, there is an early 18th-century stairlight with thick glazing bars and a similar sash on the right gable. Inside, the interior dates from the 18th and 19th centuries, but an early 18th-century open well oak staircase with square newels and turned balustrades has survived.
