Description
The Hurst is a cottage that dates from the 17th century and early 19th century. It features a timber frame that is encased in colourwashed flint and brick, topped with a thatched roof. The building has three bays, with the timber frame encased in flint and brick, and an outshot added to the rear, along with an additional bay on the right. The front of the cottage is one and a half storeys high and has four bays.
The central entrance consists of an early 19th-century six-flush panel door that is top-lit and set beneath a flat hood supported by oversized curled brackets. On either side of the door and in the right bay, there are mid-19th-century five-light casements with cambered heads and an unusual moulded frame. Above the door, there are similar casements in eyebrow dormers. The roof is half-hipped to the left and features a large ridge stack above the door, with a smaller stack at the right end of the original building.
