Description

This is a mid-to-late 19th-century garden boundary wall and gate piers. Constructed of knapped flint with red and blue brick dressings, the wall forms an L-shaped boundary to the north of Abbotsworthy House, and then extends south along Mill Lane. The wall incorporates red and blue brick pilaster buttresses and saddle-back brick coping, which is ramped up in places. Two carriage gateways are present on the north side, featuring large octagonal piers with buttresses and moulded stone conical caps. A pedestrian doorway is also on the north side, with a cambered brick arch and plank door. The wall contributes to the group value alongside other listed buildings in Abbots Worthy.
