Description

This is a Nonconformist Chapel built around 1850, located 50 meters west-northwest of the lodge of Romsey Cemetery. The chapel is constructed of red brick with yellow brick and stone dressings, topped with a slate roof. It is aligned on a north-south axis and designed in the Italianate style, featuring three bays, a south door, and a southwest tower.

The building has a red brick off-set plinth and yellow brick rusticated corner pilasters. A stone sill string runs along all sides except the south. There is a wide, plain yellow brick frieze, and both the north and south have pediments with yellow brick architraves and an oculus. The north side features a large round-headed window with rusticated yellow brick surrounds and a raised keystone, while smaller similar windows are located on the sides, all glazed with narrow blue glass edge-panes.

The south side has a round-headed doorway with panelled double doors. Attached to the south bay of the west wall is a square-plan yellow brick tower, which has a tall first stage with a rusticated, heavy moulded cornice at the first floor level. The next stage features rusticated corner pilasters and round-headed openings on each face. The top stage has triple arch openings on each face and machicolated eaves leading to a hipped roof with a weather vane.
