Description
Mill Cottage is an early 19th-century building located on Potersbridge Street. It is two storeys high and features the same wall treatment as the west front of No 23A, although it has a different, asymmetrical arrangement of windows. The roof is slate and gabled with a lower ridge. On the left side, there are two segmental-headed casement windows, one above and one below. In the centre, there is a pair of doors beneath a plain glazed porch; one door is a modern glazed door to the left with tiled steps and a handrail, while the other is a wooden boarded door to the right. To the right of centre, there is a modern two-light casement window above. Previously, there was a hoist door at the upper level on the south side, which has been replaced by a tall segmental-headed window with glazing bars and a frame, along with a smaller flat-headed two-light window directly below it. There is also a wide stable door in a segmental arch to the south of this window. The east front of No 4 has four bays with windows that have segmental heads. A wooden footbridge and remnants of mill machinery are also present. Mill Cottage, along with Nos 23A and 23B, forms a group.
