Description

The Orchards is a house built in the early 19th century. It has a rendered exterior and a slate roof, presenting a simple and symmetrical appearance. The south elevation features two storeys with five windows above two. The hipped roof is complemented by plain walls and a plinth. The ground-floor windows are sash windows with three lights, while the upper east side window is a casement. The east elevation, which serves as the entrance, is also symmetrical with three windows and similar features, including three-light sash windows on the ground floor, although the south side openings are filled in. An open porch with two columns leads to the entrance door, which has four panels below a top panel that is glazed as a fanlight. The north elevation is made of flint walling with brick dressings and a chimney, all of which are now painted. Inside, the original plain staircase remains intact.
