Description
Park Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, with an extension and re-cladding from the 18th century, and an early 19th-century extension. It is constructed of flint and brick, topped with a thatched roof. Originally, it was a timber-framed hall with two bays, which later had an upper floor added and massive fireplaces installed. The house was extended on both sides, with the west side extended in the 18th century and the east side in the early 19th century.
The south front features two storeys and five windows, while the east end has one storey and an attic. The roof has a half-hipped design at the west end, with a catslide at the rear, and is hipped at the east end, where the eaves are lowered above a verandah supported by rustic poles on the south and east sides. The walls are made of flint with brick quoins and cambered arches, and there is painted brickwork on the east side with two filled openings. The windows are casements, and there is a boarded door beneath a thatched canopy. The east end has an entrance flanked by small windows and an attic window set deeply in the roof. Inside, the timber-framing and chimney breasts are notable features of the original building.
