Description

The granary at Birchwood Farm is an 18th-century structure that may have been reroofed in the early 19th century. It features weatherboarding and a gabled tiled roof supported by four by three tooled stone staddles. The building has a plank door with pintle hinges and a loft opening in the gable end. Inside, there are two beams that are three inches wide with chamfering and lambs tongue stops, which have been sawn in half. There are also two grain bins on either side and a fixed ladder leading to the loft. The roof includes a ridgepiece and rough hewn rafters.
