Description
Lower Lodge is a late 19th-century lodge and gates located in Mottisfont. The building features flint and stone dressings with an old plain tile roof. It is a single-storey structure with three bays, positioned alongside the drive. The front has a slightly projecting central bay with brick dressings and a stone-dressed kneelered gable above. There is a depressed stone arch that leads to a half-glazed door. Each end of the lodge has brick quoins and a stone kneelered gable wall. Above the end bay, there is a stack with paired diamond shafts. The gates consist of four stone piers; the inner piers are larger and topped by a stone chained bear, while the outer piers have ball finials. The gates themselves are plain double gates, with screens on each side.
