Description
Top Lodge and Gates is a lodge and entrance gateway built in the late 19th century. It is constructed of flint with brick and stone dressings and features an old plain tile roof. The single-storey lodge has three bays and low additions at the rear. The front has a slightly projecting central bay with brick dressings and a stone-dressed gable with kneelers above. There is a depressed stone arch that leads to a half-glazed door. On either side of the door, there are three-light stone mullioned windows with leaded lights. The ends of the lodge have brick quoins and stone kneelered gable walls, with a stack at the end bay featuring paired diamond shafts.
The gates are made up of four cruciform-section stone piers, with the inner piers being larger and topped by rearing horses, while the outer piers have ball finials. The gates stand 2 meters high and consist of plain double gates with screens on each side.
