Walled Gardens 250 Metres North West Of Mottisfont Abbey

The walled gardens located 250 meters northwest of Mottisfont Abbey date from the late 18th century and have been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. They are constructed of brick with slate or render coping and consist of three enclosed gardens. The two southern gardens are rectangular, each approximately 80 meters wide and 60 meters long, while the third garden is a triangular shape, about half the area of the others. The walls stand 3 meters high and feature a plain brick cornice, with square full-height piers positioned at 10-meter intervals on the outer walls. The internal dividing walls are plain. There are several archways with planked doors and gateways leading into the southern garden, which is now a car park, as well as gateways that lead into the central garden, which contains old roses.
