Description
The retaining wall to the north walk at Mottisfont Abbey dates from the 18th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features lead urns. The wall is 1.5 meters high and extends 50 meters north from the steps leading from the sunken yew enclosure beside the northwest corner of the house. The wall has a stone coping and includes lead urns placed at 10-meter intervals. The urns at each end are open-topped with head handles, while the other urns resemble funeral urns.
