Description

Shepherds Peace is a cottage that dates from the 15th, 17th, and 18th centuries. It is a timber-framed building, with the central part originally serving as a late-medieval hall. The structure features 17th-century extensions and the addition of an upper floor, along with an 18th-century extension at the east end. The cottage has one storey and an attic, with irregularly placed windows. It is topped with a hipped thatch roof that includes eyebrow dormers. The exposed frame has painted brick infill and other walling, with a cambered opening on the east side. The 20th-century leaded casements include one with a projecting cill that was part of a former oriel at the west end. The entrance is recessed and features an inserted Gothic panel. Inside, the heavy timber-frame is visible, and there is a massive chimney breast.
