Description
May Cottage is a house dating from the late 18th century, with alterations and additions made in the early 20th century. It is constructed of brick, with some flint, chalk, and other stone, and features a thatched roof. The building has an L-shaped layout, is one storey with an attic, and has irregular window arrangements. The older section has brick walls with some flint banding, which is painted except for the west side, while the newer wing is made of chalk stone with oolite dressings. The thatched roof includes a gable, a hipped end, and several eyebrow dormers, and it is lowered to create a hood over two doorways. The windows are casements, including one splayed bay with a hipped tile roof, and there is a boarded door.
