Description
Aldings is a former pair of cottages that has been converted into a single dwelling, dating from the mid-18th century. The building features rendered walls and a thatched roof. The main elevation faces the river and consists of one storey with an attic, showcasing five upper windows. The hipped roof is low at the south end, where there is an outshot clad in vertical rustic poles. The eaves are raised above the dormers, which have cills at eaves level. On the road side, there are two eyebrow dormers. The plain walls have a high plinth on the road elevation, while the east elevation features triangular sides to the dormers made of painted brick within a timber framework, set back from the thick walls, which are likely made of cob. The windows are casements. There is one boarded door beneath a canopy supported by poles and a French door leading into a wide glazed verandah. A lead sun fire-insurance sign is also present.
