Description

These are a group of four 18th-century terraced buildings, numbered 5 to 9, on the west side of Captains' Row. The buildings have red brick facades, with numbers 6, 8, and 9 painted. They feature brick eaves cornices and tiled roofs. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic, and contain a total of eight windows and five dormers. The windows are sash windows, and most retain their original glazing bars. Numbers 6 and 8 each have a one- or two-storey bay window. All the doorways have moulded architraves, and the doorways of numbers 6, 7, and 8 have flat, bracketed hoods. The listed buildings on Captains' Row form a group value context with Alma Cottage on Grove Road.
