Description

Lilac Cottage is a cottage dating back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 20th centuries. It is timber-framed with painted brick casing and a thatched roof. The cottage is one and a half storeys high, originally three bays wide, with a low 18th-century addition on the left-hand side and a door now sheltered by a thatched hood on the right-hand side. The front has a high brick plinth, showing much of the upright timbers and baseplate. There are 2-light lattice casement windows with shutters in each bay. A 2-light eyebrow dormer window is positioned over the centre bay. A similar window is found in the 18th-century left-hand addition. The roof is half-hipped with a stack over the right-hand bay.
