Description

Goldfinch Cottage is a mid-19th century building located on the Newbery Road in Kingsclere. It is a symmetrical, two-story structure with two windows facing east. The roof is hipped and covered with tiles. The walls are constructed of blue brick in a Flemish bond pattern, featuring red rubbed flat arches, stone cills, and a plinth. Modern casement windows are present. A shallow gabled porch with a Gothic arch, a plastered Tympanum, and a six-panelled door (with two glazed upper panels) sits on the eastern facade. The southern elevation is entirely clad with scalloped tiles and includes a porch that has been converted into a window, reflecting a former second dwelling.
