Description

Ridgemoor Cottages are a pair of cottages with a core dating back to the 17th century, consisting of four bays, and early 19th century additions at each end, adding one bay to each side. The building is timber framed and was refronted in the early 19th century with red brick featuring some black headers, while the rear elevation is tile hung. It has a tiled roof with two brick chimneystacks and stands at one and a half storeys tall, featuring six windows and six gables on the front. The windows are modern casements, and there is a plinth made of bricks and flint for the four central bays. The two doors at the front are modern and have brick lintels above them. Inside, number 2 contains an early 17th century spine beam with lambs tongue stops, chamfered joists also with lambs tongue stops, and the remains of two bread ovens. The first floor features an angled queen strut roof with curved braces, an 18th century partition wall, rush light marks, and old pintle hinges.
