Description
This large barn, located to the north-west of Ridgemoor Farmhouse, dates from the late 16th century and was restored in the 19th century. It features a timber frame with four and a half bays, weatherboarded on a base of brick and partly flint. The barn has a gabled roof made of corrugated iron, with a tiled hipped projecting waggon porch on the south side. The early framing is substantial, showcasing long wide arched braces, including curved windbraces in the wall frame and some original coupled rafters. The roof structure includes angled queen struts, through purlins, and curved tension braces, along with a ridgepiece. The two easternmost bays were floored in the mid-19th century.
