Description

SU 64 NE HERRIARD 16/63 Laundry Cottages

II

Early C19. Two-storeyed range of 2 dwellings and a "chapel", with a single-storeyed open shed on the north side; the main front (south) being divided symmetrically by pilasters, to give a pattern of 2.1.1.1.2 windows. Hipped tile roof. Red brick walling in Flemish bond, with blue headers, rubb ed flat arches, plinth; the wide plain pi sters are in yellow brickwork. Sashes (a central modern casement); to the east side of a doorway with a rubbed arch, cambered on the underside and stepped above. Plain doors, and a central glazed door with side windows. The rear shed is timber-framed with a wall on 23 sides of old brickwork. The end walls and rear wall have a first floor band, suggesting an C18 structure with a C19 re-facing.
