Description

Laundry Cottages is an early 19th-century, two-storey range consisting of two dwellings and a "chapel," accompanied by a single-storey open shed on the north side. The main front, facing south, features a symmetrical design divided by pilasters, creating a pattern of two, one, one, one, two windows. The building has a hipped tile roof and is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with blue headers, rubbed flat arches, and a plinth. The wide plain pilasters are made of yellow brickwork. The windows are primarily sash, with a central modern casement. To the east side, there is a doorway with a rubbed arch that is cambered on the underside and stepped above. The doors are plain, and there is a central glazed door flanked by side windows. The rear shed is timber-framed, with walls made of old brickwork on three sides. The end walls and rear wall feature a first-floor band, indicating that this part may be an 18th-century structure that was re-faced in the 19th century.
