Description
The Stable Block to Herriard House, dating from the 18th century to early 19th century, features a square cobbled courtyard surrounded by two-storey ranges. The impressive symmetrical front faces the park and the former mansion, with a slightly projecting centrepiece that has a pediment-shaped gable. Above the carriage arch, there is a lunette, and each side of the arch has a window. The wings contain two windows each. The building has a hipped slate roof with moulded brick eaves, and the walls are made of yellow brick in Flemish bond, featuring projecting quoins, arched openings, stone cills, and a plinth. The windows are sash style. A square clock tower with vertical cladding has an open octagonal turret adorned with pointed arches and an ogee cupola. The east range, known as Horne Farm Cottages, is residential, constructed of red brick with a tiled roof and includes a series of later half-dormers. The west and south ranges, which contain stables and garages, are of one and two storeys and have later extensions.
