Description
Nos 14 and 15 Mermaid Street is a building that likely started as a single house but has been divided into two separate residences at some point. The facade, which faces the street, dates from the 18th century, although the first floor overhangs, suggesting that it conceals an earlier timber-framed structure. The building has two storeys and features two windows. The ground floor is made of painted brick, while the upper floor is stuccoed. There are sash windows, and the ground floor has two bays that extend out beneath the overhang. The roof is tiled, and there are two doorways framed by four steps leading up to them. Number 14 has an 18th-century four-panel moulded door, with the top two panels cut away and glazed. All the listed buildings on Mermaid Street are part of a group.
