Description
Mermaid Cottage, located at 9 Mermaid Street, is a building that was likely originally one house but has since been divided into two separate residences. The front of the building dates from the 18th century, while older elements, such as visible timber framing, can be seen in the west wall of No 9. The structure has two storeys and an attic, with a total of three windows. It is finished in stucco and features a tiled roof with two dormers. No 8 has a small bay window that projects outward, similar to the one at No 7, and the cornice of this bay window extends over the doorway like a hood. No 9 also has a flat hood above its entrance. Both houses have four-panel moulded doors that lead up steps. All the listed buildings on Mermaid Street are part of a group.
