Description
Number 4 Mermaid Street is an 18th-century building that stands two storeys high with an attic. It features three windows and is constructed of red brick. The house has a wooden eaves cornice and a steeply pitched tiled roof, which includes two dormers. The windows are set in reveals, with the ground floor windows having cambered head linings, although one window is modern. Access to the house is via six steps leading to a doorway that has a large flat hood supported on brackets. The door itself is a six-panel moulded design. The sides of the house are hung with tiles and each side has two gables. Additionally, the west front has a large 19th-century bay window added to both the ground and first floors. This building is part of a group of listed buildings along Mermaid Street.
