Description
Quaker's House is an 18th-century building located on the south side of Mermaid Street. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring three windows and two dormers. The structure is made of red brick and has a slate roof. A brick cornice runs along the top, with a row of bricks inserted diagonally, creating protruding points that resemble modillions. There is a brick string course above the ground floor, and the windows have segmental heads. The entrance includes a wide double doorway framed with a hood above it, and steps shaped like a mounting block lead up to this doorway. Internally, the ceilings of the ground floor rooms and the floors of the first floor rooms have been removed, creating one large high studio space with a gallery at one end. The attics above remain intact. All the listed buildings on Mermaid Street are part of a group.
