Description

HARLEY SHUTE ROAD 1. 5204 Harley Shute Filsham Farmhouse TQ 70 NE 4/203A 19.1.51. II 2. Dated 1683 in panel over the doorway. 2 storeys. 3 widely-spaced windows. Red brick. String course above the ground floor made up of 3 courses of bricks, the centre course inserted diagonally the points of the bricks protruding. Moulded brick eaves cornice. Tiled roof with stone coping to gable ends. Modern 3-light casement windows with glazing bars, ground floor with cambered brick arches. 2 elliptical headed windows or doorways bricked up. Off centre C17 stone doorway with moulded jambs and lintel, 4-centred arch head, spandrels, cornice and pulvinated frieze, lintel inscribed LW 1683. Later brick chimney stacks. Addition of one window bay at the north end faced with cobbles on the ground floor with red brick window dressings and quoins, and hung with tiles above; half hipped roof.
