Description

Filsham Farmhouse is a 17th-century building dated 1683, as indicated by a panel above the doorway. It is two storeys high and features three widely spaced windows. The structure is built of red brick, with a string course above the ground floor made up of three courses of bricks, where the center course is inserted diagonally, causing the points of the bricks to protrude. The eaves cornice is moulded brick, and the roof is tiled with stone coping at the gable ends.

The windows are modern three-light casements with glazing bars, and the ground floor windows have cambered brick arches. There are two elliptical-headed windows or doorways that have been bricked up. The off-centre 17th-century stone doorway has moulded jambs and a lintel with a four-centred arch head, spandrels, a cornice, and a pulvinated frieze, with the lintel inscribed "LW 1683." The building also features later brick chimney stacks.

An addition at the north end includes one window bay faced with cobbles on the ground floor, with red brick window dressings and quoins, and is hung with tiles above, topped with a half-hipped roof.
