Description
11 Butcher Row is a building dating from the late 17th century and early 19th century. It has two storeys and is constructed of red brick. The façade features three windows with rusticated lintels that have keystones, and the windows are hung sashes from around 1800. There is a cill band beneath the very tall first-floor windows, which include glazing bars. A painted stone doorway is located under the western window on the first floor. The door consists of six panels, with the upper panels being fielded and featuring an arched patterned radial bar fanlight. The doorway is flanked by panelled pilasters and topped with a plain band from which a voussoired area with a keystone springs. The inner door frame is reeded, and the transom is moulded and fluted. The roof is a modern pantile. The gabled garden front displays attractive triple windows from around 1800. The two rear gables have been rebuilt. Inside, there is a fine late 17th-century staircase with a closed string and spiral twisted balusters.
