Description
Nos 117 and 119, including the attached stable wing, were built as one house around 1730. The building is two storeys high, constructed from red brick and timber frame, featuring a steep pitch gable end and a new pantile roof with a moulded brick modillion cornice. The first floor has original flush frame sash windows on the left, which do not have glazing bars, while those on the right are blocked. There are two sash windows with stucco arches and an attic light in the roughcast east gable end. The ground floor is currently occupied by a modern shop front. To the left, there is a late 18th century or early 19th century stable wing, which is one storey high and made of red brick, featuring double coach house doors and a pilastered secondary doorway with an entablature. Inside, the building retains the original central staircase that rises in a square well, with an open string and groups of richly turned balusters on each tread. Some rooms still have original panelled doors.
