Description
No. 58, part of No. 60, is a house that has been converted into a shop. It was built in the early 19th century and has undergone some alterations since then. The building is constructed of red brick with painted stone dressings and features a slate roof. It stands three storeys high and has three bays. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front that spans the full width of the building, while the 19th-century cornice and carved brackets adorn the top.
There is an ashlar sill band on the first floor, which is interrupted by late 19th-century canted bay windows on the outer bays. These bay windows have plate glass sashes, moulded cornices, and hipped leaded roofs. In the center, there is a plate glass sash window below a cambered wedge lintel, which has raised voussoirs and a keystone. Above this, there are three shallow 8-pane sashes beneath similar heads, featuring projecting sills. The eaves are supported by timber brackets, and there are stacks at each end of the building. This property is included for its group value.
