Description

Court Lodge is a 17th-century building located on Hooe Mill Lane. It stands two storeys high with an attic, featuring four windows and three dormers. The exterior is made of red vitreous brick with some grey headers, and there is a moulded brick stringcourse above each floor that creates a dripstone effect over the windows. The windows are casement style, and the central dormer is topped with a triangular pediment, while the outer dormers have curved pediments. A modern porch has been added to the front.

Both the north and south walls have large brick chimney breasts. The south chimney breast has three stacks, with the centre stack being diagonal and the outer ones square, featuring offsets on the west side, above which a fourth stack has been added. The north chimney breast has two diagonal stacks and two square ones that appear to have been added later, with one on the west above offsets and the other on the east extending straight down. The gable ends behind the chimneys are finished with brick coping and kneelers, with the south gable being pointed and tile-hung. An L-shaped wing of lower elevation was added to the east in 1935.

Inside, there is a notable room with excellent 16th-century linenfold panelling that features carved heads around the top and over the door. Additional panelling and the staircase have been sourced from other houses.
