Description
Whist House is a 17th-century building, dated 1707, located on Tannery Lane. It is constructed of red brick with grey headers and features two storeys and attics. The building has a steeply pitched hipped roof covered with old tiles, which includes two hipped dormers. A heavy wooden modillion eaves cornice runs along the roofline, and the structure is accented with long and short quoins and a stringcourse.
The façade displays five sash windows with wide glazing bars that remain intact, and the ground floor windows are fitted with Regency wooden blinds. The entrance features a doorcase with engaged Doric columns, a flat pediment, panelled reveals, and an eight-panel fielded door. To the left, there is a two-storey tile-hung extension with a half-hipped roof. The rear elevation includes two hipped dormers and two sash windows, along with a projecting first floor that has a canted bay supported by two cast iron columns.
