Description
BRAY OAKLEY GREEN ROAD SU 97 W (north side) 10/10 Oakley Green 5.12.84 Nos. 7 and 8 G.V. II
Pair of estate houses, now houses. 1870 for Van de Weyer family. Red brick with black brick contrasting bands, tiled gabled roof. Rectangular plan with projecting gables on south. 2 storeys. Large central chimney with projecting base central pilaster; offset head; bands of contrasting brick and tall clay pots. Road (south) front: 4 bays with large paired symmetrical gables with projecting brick toothed verges; projecting moulded brick string course at first floor with plain tile capping. 3-light leaded casement windows, projecting with brick corbels supporting moulded brick cill; small tiled pent roof. Two 5-light leaded casement windows on ground floor with stone panel of 1870 with interwoven initials of the Van de Weyer family. Entrance porches set back with small tiled hipped roofs, each side of gable in internal angle with the gabled ends; similar hands of contrasting brick. These houses formed part of the former estate of the Van de Weyer family; the family house, New Lodge, is listed separately (10/30). Included for group value.
