Description
Nos. 3 and 5 Derby Place are a pair of town houses built in the 1850s. They are constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond and feature a hipped grey slate roof. The houses are two storeys tall and double fronted, designed in a late Georgian style. Each house has a plinth and steps leading up to a door with two tall panels and an overlight, framed by an entablature supported by parallel-sided pilasters. The windows have painted stone sills and wedge lintels, with recessed 12-pane sashes—one on each side of the door and three on the first floor of each house. There is an eaves cornice, a central ridge chimney, and flush lateral chimneys. The side walls are unpierced, and No. 5 has an outshut with a lean-to roof. The rears and interiors of the houses were not inspected.
