Description
Grove Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, built in the mid-18th century, with an extension added in the early 19th century and alterations made in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of brick and features an old tile hipped roof, with slate on the extension. It has a double depth plan and stands two storeys tall, with two chimneys topped with clay pots. The front facade is symmetrical with three bays, and it includes sash windows with glazing bars, although some 18th-century leaded metal casement windows can still be found at the rear. The windows have segmental arches, and the eaves are dentilled with a projecting plinth. The entrance features a 20th-century six-panelled door and doorcase, complete with a three-pane overlight and a small hood. Inside, most windows have panelled shutters, and there are 19th-century cast-iron fireplaces in the first-floor bedrooms.
