Description
Old Lodge Farmhouse is a hall house that has been converted into a residence. It dates from the late 15th century and has undergone alterations and extensions in the 19th and mid-20th centuries. The building features a mix of timber framing encased in painted render and areas of painted render. It has old tile roofs that are gabled and hipped, with a half hip facing the road. Originally, the farmhouse had a rectangular plan consisting of two framed bays for the hall and one bay for the service end; it has since been modified into an L-shape with extensions. The structure is part one storey and part one-and-a-half storeys, and it has three chimneys.
The entrance front, which faces west, is irregular in design. To the left, there is a one-storey extension that includes a two-light diamond-leaded casement window and a plain door. The central section features a gabled roof dormer with a two-light casement window and a 20th-century rooflight to the right. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century gabled, enclosed entrance porch with a plank door located nearly in the center. To the left of the porch, there are two small two-light diamond-leaded casement windows, and to the right, there is another similar two-light window.
The gable facing south towards the road has a left section that is gabled with a half hip roof from the original house. It includes one two-light casement window on the upper level with lozenge-shaped panes. The ground floor features a canted bay window with a pent roof, which has four lights and one-light returns, also with similar panes. The extension on the right is set back and has a plain gable facing the road. Inside, the farmhouse has sooted timbers in the roof, a redundant crown post truss, and large arched braces.
