Description
Clock Tower House and Toad Hall is a building that was originally a chapel or stables associated with Bray Film Studios, formerly known as Down Place. It dates from the 18th century and underwent alterations in the 20th century. The structure features painted rendered walls and a low pitch, hipped slate roof, with a long rectangular plan. It stands two storeys high and consists of nine bays, topped with a battlemented parapet. The building has sash windows with glazing bars, with nine windows on the first floor. The ground floor displays semi-circular headed blank arcading in all bays except the second and third. The five bays on the right retain impost blocks, while bays one, two, seven, and nine contain 20th-century casements with glazing bars. Notably, Clock Tower House has a clock tower featuring an 18th-century clock facing east. The tower has an octagonal plan on a wooden base, supported by eight Doric columns, and is topped with a metal-covered cupola that has a moulded cornice, a swept finial, and an attractive weather vane.
