House. Early C18, extended late C18, altered C19 and mid C20. Formerly brick, now painted render. Low pitched slate roof concealed behind parapet. Formerly nearly square plan, a wing added on the west in late C18. EXTERIOR: formerly 3 storeys now 2 storeys and basement; the second floor having been removed mid C20. Chimneys removed. Sash windows with glazing bars. South (garden) front: original house on right, of 7 bays; 3 windows in each of 2 semicircular full height bays and one window in centre. Tripartite windows in each bay on ground floor, that on the left with casement doors. To the left the extension has a full height canted bay with 3 windows and a tripartite sash in the centre, ground floor. A flight of 5 stone steps leads down to the garden, flanked by low rendered walls and piers with urns on top. The entrance door of 6 fielded panels is now on the west front and is approached by a flight of 5 stone steps. A Doric doorcase with triglyph frieze and renewed dentil cornice. INTERIOR: windows retain their shutters. Some rooms have late C18 enriched ceiling cornices.
