20/8 The Post Office

Hall house, now post office, shop and small house. Early C15, extended C18, altered and extended late C20. Part timber frame, encased in render and brick, part brick. Old tile gabled roof, rear roof lower. Originally rectangular plan of 3 bays, with gable facing street, now T-plan with extension at front. Further extension at side. 2 storeys and one and a half storeys. 2 chimneys, one on left gable and one at rear, both with clay pots. Road (west) front: 2 bays. Casement windows with glazing bars and segmental heads. 6-panel entrance door moved from centre to right, with C20 gabled porch on wooden posts. Extension on right side with parapet, half-glazed door and C20 shop window. Date incised into bricks under eaves in centre:

Interior: timber frame exposed in rear section, curved braces and centre chamfered scissor braced collar roof truss.
